Chernobyl Children's Lifeline Need Volunteers

Share

7th February 2022

The Sherborne and Yeovil Link of Chernobyl Children's Lifeline is looking for volunteer/s to organise fundraising events in the Sherborne area.

Every year the link brings children from Belarus or Ukraine for 4 weeks to improve their immune systems which are seriously compromised following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.

Due to the pandemic the link has not been able to bring children for the last 2 years but instead have been supporting a single mother with 5 school age children. The youngest two children are 5 year old twins and the girl has  cancer in her orbit.

We have bought a wood burning stove, high quality nutritious food and provided transport to and from hospital on their weekly 140 k journey.

We are currently hoping to also support another single parent with up to 5 children one of whom has a serious physical disability.

If you interested in supporting this cause as a fundraising volunteer or would like to find out more, contact Ann Horrocks, Link Chair, on 07870 826853
or email [email protected]
