We are currently looking for volunteers to support our community fridge (called CasterFridge) based in the Coop in Dorchester. The community fridge was opened in April and the purpose is to reduce food waste. We are donated food from supermarkets that they cannot sell because it is past its ‘best before’ but still perfectly edible. We then give this food away for free to people in the community. The fridge is open to all and doesn’t require any membership or eligibility checks for people to access this food. Since our opening day we have rescued a whopping 930kg of good food from going to landfill.
We are now looking to expand our volunteer team to help grow and guide this project.
