26th June 2019

Next month marks 50 years since the first moon landing, and we're celebrating with an excellent opportunity to showcase Dorset and all that it has to offer.
Dorset Moon will land in Bournemouth, Sherborne and Weymouth over three weekends: Friday 28 June to Sunday 14 July 2019. It is an astounding seven metre diameter spherical sculpture and features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface.

Luke Jerram’s internationally acclaimed Museum of the Moon has travelled all over the world and wowed thousands. Now it's making its way to Dorset with a full programme of free lunar-inspired events that will create an experience that is out of this world.

Free festival events such as Dorset Moon, that bring amazing installations to a new place can have a real effect on local businesses. In 2018 over 150,000 people came to see Dippy the Dinosaur in the County Museum, with a visitor spend of £2.2 million.
If you are a business and want to get involved in promoting Dorset Moon there are a range of downloadable resources available, including social media graphics and ideas to help encourage visitors to the area.
