5th December 2018

The Community Credits Scheme is a project delivered by the Volunteer Centre Dorset which covers Dorset.  The Scheme was set up to support individuals who have learning disabilities to seek supported voluntary placements. For each and every hour volunteered they and their mentor receive a community credit note which can be exchanged for a health and wellbeing activity within Dorset.

Volunteer Mentors

A volunteer mentor supports someone with a leanring disability in their volunteering opportunity. We match Mentors who have similar interests to the volunteers who have learning disabilties. The mentor will be caring and supportive in their role by prompting and encouraging individuals in their chosen interest.

Organisations placing volunteers

Organisations offering placements can make reasonable adjustments when recruiting people with learning disabilties and if further information or training for staff/volulnteers is required we can assit with you in this. We just ask that you think outside the box people with learning disabilties have many great skills to offer and we will provide supported volunteering.
