Can We Help You? Volunteer Help Scheme 2019

Share

16th November 2018

During  2019 the Centre is continuing to operate its popular  Volunteer Help Scheme. This uses volunteers to provide practical ‘physical’ help at low costs for elderly and disabled local residents. Tasks include gardening help, hedge and lawn cutting and waste removal.
The season will start late February/ March and run through until November

Our volunteers

All our volunteers are fully checked, reliable and trustworthy we allocate a 3-man team for all work therefore for as little as £15 per hour we are able to provide a low cost helpful service.
As part of a small team, you would provide support and guidance for the other two team members. The team visits gardens around the surrounding area three times a week but the driver can choose which day is convenient.

If you are interested please get in contact with us at the Centre. All Volunteers are welcome but drivers must be at least 25 years old

Other Services

We also help moving furniture to facilitate relocation of residents within their own homes i.e. bed moving. Other simple but important tasks are provided. Unfortunately, we charge for our work to ensure we are able to help those most vulnerable and in receipt of benefits.

Charges

This is usually a yearly cost for a regular monthly garden service or one off charges as required. The cost of our Garden Help service varies according to subsidies received in each area and allows for a visit every 3-4 weeks to include Hedge cutting as required (below head height only) and maintaining lawns.   We normally allocate up to 40 minutes to ensure the system is sustainable and we are able to cover several gardens a day

  • Dorchester area      £80 Per year
  • North Dorset area  £50 per year
