VOLUNTEERING VACANCIES SEPTEMBER 2018

A new school term brings with it new and exciting opportunities to support your local community and make a real difference.
Below are just a few of the roles local organisations are hoping to fill over the next few months;

Citizens Advice Weymouth & Portland:  Currently recruiting local people with an approachable demeanour and good communication skills, to provide shift cover of general admin/reception duties in their new office at The Portland Centre, Fortuneswell.  Some IT, telephone experience or customer service experience would be beneficial, but not essential as all training will be provided.  The Citizens Advice Bureau is a very well regarded national organisation that deals with a wide range of enquiries from across our community.

Atlantic Academy PTFA:  Now entering its second year, Atlantic Academy is looking looking to build upon last year’s success. Supporting the Academy in its drive towards excellence is the Atlantic PTFA. Made up of parents, grandparents, carers, staff and members of the community, the PTFA develops and runs activities and events, which not only support the pupil’s education, but also their physical, emotional and social development.

This year they are seeking motivated people to join the team. Meetings are held each half term and you can volunteer to do as much or as little as you are able. Roles are flexible and you can lead or support the delivery of an event that you have a particular interest in, from organising a school disco, pub quiz, football match or bake sale to designing or delivering posters, manning an event stall, writing a fundraising letter or simply baking a cake. Whatever your motivation, a suitable role can be identified and your input would be hugely appreciated.

Island Community Action: ICA will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2019. As part of this celebration, we want to recruit volunteers that can help us to make a fun, but professional short film featuring our clients and volunteers across our many clubs and activities.  This role will run from September to January and will require someone with the production and technical skills required to create an entertaining, shareable and engaging video that will help promote our work and encourage new clients, volunteers and supporters to get involved.
