Volunteer Centre Dorset
Awards Evening 2010
The annual event “formerly recognises” volunteers from across the County for the work they carry out.
The Volunteer Centre Dorset will be thanking the Nominated Volunteers in three categories during an evening of music, food and entertainment at the Dorford Centre, Dorchester.
The Categories are:-
• Young Volunteer of the Year
• Volunteer team or Group
• Volunteer of the Year
This year the event takes place on Thursday 28th October 2010, 18.30 – 21.30.

Environmental Pages Online!
The volunteer Centre will be working with many Environmental Organisations to provide information regarding Environmental volunteering opportunities throughout Dorset.
Currently we have a page detailing Organisations in Dorset (we hope to constantly update this) that can be found here: Environmental and Conservation Organisations in Dorset
We also have a Calendar Of Work which volunteers can get involved in, Environmental and Conservation Work in Dorset
We hope to have Calendar of Meetings & Events, however that currently requires content before it can go online.

Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club Needs You!
More volunteers needed to assist with fundraising, general advice due to new Gym of Excellance Opening!
The Dorchester A.B.C. has been allocated a plot of land on the Sawmills Site by the Duchy of Cornwall to build a Multi Purpose Gym of Excellence.
We are now in a position were we need people who are familiar with Fund Raising, Building etc, to help us with our project. Any Volunteers, come along to the EGM at YMCA, 3rd August, 7pm.

If you were wondering what events you could get involved with this summer, you can download our 'Events List' for 2010 from our 'Dowloadable Information' page or click here. You can also find a 'Event Record Sheet' there to log your attendance at events.
Of course this does not include all of the many events that will be taking place in Dorset this year, therefore fill free to make us aware of an event you fill may need volunteer stewards.

Are you or do you know someone who would be interested learning new skills, gaining work experience and carrying out some practical volunteering?
If so we would like to hear from you. Find Out more on our 'Projects Page'
The nationally acclaimed Personal best project is being run by Weymouth College and delivered across Dorset. The fully funded ten week course for volunteers covers many aspects of personal development
Including:
Team and interpersonal skills
Public safety
Conflict resolution
Customer relations
Fire awareness
As well as the many benefits of the training all students will get the chance to support a whole host of local events and are ‘Guaranteed a games time interview’ from which 2012 volunteers will be selected
Therefore if you are over 17, live in Dorset, are currently out of work and not engaged in training or New Deal Programme and preferably without a level 2 qualification Contact the centre now ! |
