KeeP 106 is the broadcasting name of the new community radio station for Dorchester and the surrounding area being set up by Ridgeway Community Radio which was launched on 28th July, a community interest company (CIC), on a not-for-profit basis by a group of enthusiastic volunteers all of whom have experience in broadcasting.
The name is derived from the fact that the station is based in The Little Keep located at the end of Barrack Road which runs from Bridport Road between The Keep Military Museum and Vespasian House and past the Royal Mail main delivery office. Also housed in the same building is The Arts Development Company – their website has some interesting information about the building’s history and is well worth a look. The 106 part of the name reminds the listener where to be able to find the station on a radio since the frequency will be 106.3 Mhz FM.
